Terms of use

Last updated 9 September 2026

The short version: ten scans are free and after that it is a subscription, it is an informational tool rather than medical advice, and the label on the packaging is always the final word. The detail is below.

Who provides the app

The Sweetener Guide is provided by GF Consulting ApS, Lykkesholms Allé 11, 1902 Frederiksberg C, Denmark. These terms cover both the app and this website. You can reach us at hello@gfconsulting.dk.

Agreeing to these terms

By installing or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the app. You may stop at any time by deleting it from your phone.

What the app is

The app reads an ingredients list with your camera and shows whether it contains sweeteners that may affect blood sugar, together with the reasoning behind each rating. It is an informational tool, meant to make a food label quicker to read while you are standing in the shop.

Free scans and the subscription

The first ten scans are free. After that, scanning needs a subscription: 9 kr a month or 79 kr a year. Prices include Danish VAT, and the price shown before you confirm is the price you pay.

A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it, and it is charged to your App Store or Google Play account. You can cancel at any time in that account's settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep access until the period you have already paid for ends.

Apple and Google handle the payment. They are the seller of the purchase itself, they hold your payment details rather than us, and refunds are asked of them — from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, and from Google through Google Play.

As a consumer in the EU you have a fourteen-day right of withdrawal on a purchase like this. Because the purchase is made with Apple or Google rather than with us, that is where to exercise it. Your mandatory rights under Danish and European consumer law apply whatever these terms say.

A subscription does not create an account with us. It belongs to your App Store or Google Play account, so we never learn who has subscribed, any more than we learn what you scanned.

It is not medical advice

The app does not diagnose, treat, or monitor any condition, and it is not a medical device. It does not replace guidance from your doctor, nurse, or dietitian. Always follow your care team's advice about your diet and your medication, and never change either on the strength of what the app shows.

If you feel unwell or are worried about your blood sugar, contact a health professional. In an emergency, call the emergency services.

The label is the final word

We put real care into the ingredient list, but it cannot be guaranteed to be complete or correct at any given moment. Recipes change, manufacturers reformulate products, and how an ingredient affects blood sugar varies from person to person.

Reading a label with a camera also depends on the light, the focus, the print, and the state of the packaging, so the app can misread a word or miss one altogether. Treat the result as a prompt to look closer, and check the packaging itself before you decide.

Allergies and intolerances

The app is about sweeteners and blood sugar. It is not an allergy tool, and it must not be relied on to tell you whether a product is safe if you have an allergy or intolerance. For that, always read the packaging in full and follow the manufacturer's own allergen information.

Using the app fairly

You may use the app for your own personal shopping as much as you like. Please do not try to break into it, disrupt it, copy the ingredient list for a competing product, or present its results as your own service. You are also responsible for using it lawfully and safely — not, for instance, while driving.

What belongs to whom

The app, this website, the ingredient list, the name Sødeguiden and The Sweetener Guide, and the design of all of it belong to GF Consulting ApS. Installing the app gives you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable right to use it, and nothing more.

The app stores

The app is distributed through Apple's App Store and Google Play, and their own terms apply alongside these. Apple and Google are not parties to this agreement and are not responsible for the app or its content. Any question about the app itself belongs with us.

Availability and changes

The app is offered as it is. We may change it, update the ingredient list, or stop offering it altogether, and we cannot promise it will always be available or work without fault. If we stopped offering it while your subscription was running, it would not renew again. Where a change would materially affect how you use the app, we will say so in the app before it takes effect.

Our liability

Because the app is an informational tool rather than advice, we are not liable for choices you make on the basis of what it shows, nor for indirect or consequential losses such as lost income or lost data.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Danish law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, and under the rules on product liability. If you are a consumer, your mandatory rights under Danish consumer law stand regardless of what these terms say.

Privacy

The photo never leaves your phone, and we never learn what you scanned. How that works, and the little the app does send, is described in our privacy policy.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the date at the top will be updated. Any material change will be shown in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Danish law, and disputes belong before the Danish courts. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country of residence, and you may also complain to the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority's Center for Klageløsning at forbrug.dk.
